Tuesday 24th March 2020

Lecturer: DOMINIC RILEY

William Morris founded the Kelmscott Press and his last book was Works of Geoffrey Chaucer.

Dominic Riley is a bookbinder, artist and teacher who first learned bookbinding from Benedictine monks. He has worked at the V&A and various binderies in London and USA, won many prizes and his bindings are in collections worldwide.

In this lecture, Dominic will talk about the challenge of rebinding a copy of The Kelmscott Chaucer which was in very poor condition and give an insight into how fine bindings are made and relate his artistic journey.
